English Fun Fair

One of my fondest memories as a child was going to the state fair.  In the months leading up to the fair, I would dream of playing carnival games and riding the fair rides.  I longed for the smell of popcorn and the taste of fried bread dough.  I couldn’t wait to see the candy apples and the smiles on the faces of people passing by.
This year, the mentors for the TELL2 project decided to bring some of that joy to the children of Raub, Pahang by bringing a mini English funfair right to SK Raub Jaya.  We invited students and teachers from 11 other schools to come join in the fun.  We made 15 of our own fun carnival games.  We provided students with tokens, funfair ringgit, and prizes.  Our mission was to give students lasting memories of practicing English in a fun and enjoyable way.
The funfair was a big success! Among the more than 300 student participants, we saw nothing but smiles and laughter as the students rushed from one game to the next, to the prize table, and then back to the games to collect more funfair ringgit. Learning can be fun!

The line for Jeremy's Flashcard Target Practice game seemed to go on for miles.  Watch out cowboy, those toy guns are loaded!

Siobhan and Suzana worked really hard to make the day a success!  Here they are running 'Pop the Balloon' game and collecting Fun Fair Ringgit.

All the children fell in love with furry and lovable Brighton!

'Avoid the Sharks' game was a perfect example of a fun and educational game at the funfair!
